Tips
Although modern hayfever treatments allow you to lead a normal life without too many lifestyle restrictions you may find the following tips useful for avoiding exposure to pollen:
- If you do suffer from hayfever, start treatment with Nasacort Allergy Nasal Spray as soon as you develop symptoms.
- Check pollen forecasts and try to avoid outdoor activities if the pollen forecast is very high.
- Try to keep doors and windows shut during the pollen season (including those in your car when you’re driving). If possible, use a car fitted with a pollen filter.
- Let someone else mow the lawn.
- Avoid bringing garden flowers and their pollen into the house.
- Wash your hair frequently to remove pollen particles.
- Keep away from pets which have been outside and avoid grooming them yourself.
- Wear close fitting sunglasses to avoid getting pollen in your eyes.
- Stay indoors during early morning and late evening, with the windows closed.
- Avoid smoky or polluted environments which can worsen the irritation.
- Plan holidays carefully - if possible, avoid the UK pollen season and consider places where pollen levels are low, such as the coast, sea cruises and countries with hot and dry climates.
